The Pinoy Catholic: More photos of Cardinal Tagle in Milan's Duomo

More photos from the FB account of a Filipina working at Milan.  I forgot her name but I do not claim ownership of these photos.

Here is another beautiful photo of the cardinal, not because he is wearing traditional vestments but because he is wearing the correct vestments.  See there, the dalmatic thing under the chasuble?  That is the pontifical dalmatic, worn by bishops over the stole and under the chasuble.  A bishop wears this in pontifical Masses which is the proper occasion for the cardinal in this case.  See that he is also wearing a white miter, not a green one, unlike most Filipino bishops when they are here in the Philippines.  Miters don't follow the liturgical color.   It is either gold, white or with semi-precious jewels.

Here is the cardinal seated on the throne of the archbishop.  He was given the permission to sit on the chair.  Here he is being welcomed by the dean (?) of the cathedral chapter who was also a concelebrant of the Mass.  I was told by someone that the Goggle liturgist commented that this was the Ambrosian Mass which is NOT.  Concelebration is not in the Ambrosian

And horror of horrors! Obviously a product of Filipinos in Milan.

Liturgical dancing is NOT liturgical!  It is an abuse!  It is an outrage!

Keep doing this to your children and they would think that the Mass is not a holy act but a social act, nothing different from a school program.

Swan Lake, next!

SOON TO BE RED CROSS GALLONEER!!!

IMPROVES HEART HEALTH

Donating blood improves your overall cardiovascular health. Increased level of iron in the blood raises the chance of heart disease. Regularly donating blood helps males in particular to reduce the amount of iron in the blood. This can reduce the chance of heart attack by 88%. Additionally, regular blood donation can lower the risk of severe cardiovascular events such as stroke by 33%.

ENHANCES THE PRODUCTION OF NEW BLOOD CELLS

When blood is withdrawn, the donor's body immediately begins to replenish the lost blood. New cells are produced by marrow within 48 hours of donation, and all of the red blood cells the donor loses during donation are completely replaced within one to two months. Therefore, donating blood helps to stimulate the production of new blood cells. This process of  replenishment can help your body stay healthy and work more efficiently.

BURNS CALORIES

Donating blood on a regular basis can also improve fitness. Donating one pint of blood (450 ml) burns 650 calories in donor's body.

ENHANCES FEELING OF WELL BEING IN ELDERLY PEOPLE

Many elderly people who are in good health have reported feeling invigorated and reenergized by giving blood on a regular basis.

REDUCES CANCER RISK

Give blood to help lower your risk of cancer. According to the Miller-Keystone Blood Center, consistent blood donation is associated with lowered risks of cancers, including liver, lung, colon, stomach and throat cancers. Risk levels drop in correlation with how often participants donate blood.

FREE HEALTH SCREENING DONE

In addition to all of these benefits, a donor receives a free prior health screening plus mini blood test. There will be an HB level test, as well as a blood pressure and body check.  Blood is also tested for some major diseases and the donor is immediately informed in strict confidentiality if any of these tests show positive results.

SAVES LIVES

By donating blood, many lives are saved and hope is given to many whose situation may otherwise be hopeless. Blood donors give such patients a second lease of life.

BRINGS JOY TO MANY

When you donate blood, you impact not only the patient whose life may depend on your donation, but also all those who depend on that patient. The entire community will benefit from  he spirit of generosity.

Quevedo won't leave Cotabato | ABS-CBN News

MANILA – Cardinal-elect Cotabato Archbishop Orlando Quevedo on Saturday said he plans to stay in the province following the announcement by Pope Francis of his elevation to the College of Cardinals.

"People expect that I might be transferred to a big urban diocese. But no, no, I prefer to remain in Cotabato," Quevedo said in an interview with radio dzMM.

Quevedo will be the very first Cardinal from Mindanao.

He explained, "There are dioceses that are traditionally places for cardinals like Manila and Cebu. These are what they call Cardinalatial dioceses."

"So if anybody is appointed to Cebu or to Manila, the expectation would be in 2 or 3 years he would be a cardinal. But for Mindanao there's no tradition, the first time and it happened to be Cotabato," he said.

Early this month, Pope Francis named Quevedo as one of the 16 new cardinals. He said he was in total shock after hearing the news.

"It was not mentioned to me at all even the day before. It was direct announcement through the Angelus of the Pope. I learned of it one hour after it was announced," he said.

Quevedo has been serving Cotabato for 15 years now. His first assignment as a bishop was in Kidapawan during the martial law years. After that, he was sent to Vigan and became an archbishop there for 12 years, then brought back to Cotabato.

"Mahirap kasi nobody would take Cotabato ata. Pero missionary ako, I grew up there, I grew up in Mindanao so I was happy to go back," said Quevedo.

He said he is aware of the challenges but added that he has good relationship with Muslims, Christians and indigenous groups.

"I was not worried about myself. I was never in fear of my life when I was there. Even as a bishop, I would go alone to the barrios and go through Muslim territories. I was never afraid because Muslims are friends of mine," he said.

He said he will continue with his work of reaching out to poor people, to take a look at the GPH-MILF peace negotiations until it's successful, and pursue interreligious dialogue. Although his focus remains the same, Quevedo said he will also act as an unofficial spokesman for Mindanao.

"But now there is an added responsibility kasi being a cardinal from Mindanao, even though I have no authority whatsoever in any diocese, the bishops expect me to speak up on certain issues that are common to all of us in Mindanao. And, I have to be very careful about what to say because I cannot say something the bishops are not in agreement with me," he said.

Quevedo, who is turning 75 in March, was supposed to write a letter of retirement as a bishop to Pope Francis.

"Pero ngayon I guess that is on hold for another 5 years. But I am going to write a letter just the same," he said.

DLTB Bus Sucks!

Siksikan na nga kami sa loob ng 505 na 'yun, nakuha pa ng driver na pumick-up ng pasahero along the way from Turbina! a worst year end experience with Del Monte Land Transport Bus Comapny (DLTB).. what the heck!!!

To the company, review your policy with regards to this kind of situation.. i suggest you better fire those incompetent personnel/s who are not in proper disposition during that time in making a sound decision, specially the dispatcher/operations manager on-duty that day in your Buendia Terminal.. You should have cared enough for your passengers since we are your bread and butter..

Noong lumabas ang DLTB, sa kanila na lagi kami sumasakay, in hope na they will be like that of the then BLTB na tinangkilik ng mga tao dahil sa asikaso at concern sa pasahero.. pero mukhang iba yata style ng company na ito, hindi public servcice.. profit from public yata lamang ang concern nila.. I am a regular Lucena weekly passenger, and sad to say, I might shift back to JAC Liner again..

Motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead three officials of a barangay (village) in Caloocan City in a brazen payroll robbery in Bulacan province Monday noon. The officials of Barangay 176 in Caloocan City were ambushed at Barangay Bahay Pare in Meycauayan, Bulacan, radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported. Police are now tracking down the motorcycle-riding men, who took some P3 million in payroll money. The dzBB report identified the fatalities as Rodora Gomito, treasurer of Barangay 176; driver Jaime Mendoza; and a liaison officer. A separate report on dzRH identified the third fatality as Dona Medallos. The dzRH report cited initial information indicating the victims passed through Bahay Pare village in Meycauayan City at about 1 p.m. after withdrawing the money from a branch of the Land Bank of the Philippines.

But at Bahay Pare village, at least four motorcycle-riding men blocked their path and fired on them, then took some P3.1 million in cash.

Recovered from the crime scene were shells from cal-.45 and 9-mm pistols, the dzRH report said. — KBK, GMA News

Bishop opposes renaming of EDSA to ‘Cory Aquino Avenue’

Most. Rev. HONESTO ONGTIOCO, D.D.
Bishop of Cubao

MANILA, Nov. 28, 2011— A Catholic bishop has found “unnecessary” the proposal to rename Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) to "Cory Aquino Avenue".
Besides, according to Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco, there are already some statues named after the mother of President Benigno Aquino III, including his father, the late and former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Sr.
“It’s not necessary. We have statues of Cory and Ninoy in Luneta and in other places,” said Ongtioco. “The international airport is even named after Ninoy.”
The bishop was reacting to a House Bill 5422 filed by Bohol Rep. Rene Relampagos that seeks to rename EDSA from Caloocan City to Pasay City, after the President Corazon Aquino.
EDSA had been the site two people power revolts that toppled the Marcos and Estrada administration.
“One cannot think of the 1986 EDSA Revolution without thinking of former President Corazon Aquino,” said Relampagos.
The measure is now pending with the committee on public works and highways of the House of Representatives. [CBCPNews]
